This study outlines a next-gen sorting system combining robotics, AI-powered classification, laser segmentation, and a Digital Twin for textile recycling. It makes sorting more accurate, efficient, and scalable—supporting real advances toward a circular economy. We are looking at how AI supports sustainable product development, not just design, but post-consumption recycling. This research introduces an autonomous system that uses robots, spectral imaging, and AI models to sort textiles more accurately than humans can. A Digital Twin helps test system performance before real deployment. Plus, the pipeline even uses laser segmentation to strip out buttons or zippers, making recycling more efficient. It’s a model of how advanced AI can support circular material flow.
