DHL has introduced Greenplan, a cutting-edge algorithm designed to revolutionize delivery route optimization. Developed in collaboration with the University of Bonn’s Research Institute for Discrete Mathematics, Greenplan aims to enhance logistics efficiency and sustainability. Unlike traditional tools that focus on small geographic areas, Greenplan optimizes routes across entire delivery zones, considering real-time traffic data and vehicle specifics. By minimizing unnecessary kilometers, the algorithm can also reduce operational costs by up to 20% and lower CO₂ emissions, aligning with DHL’s GoGreen initiative. The system accommodates varying delivery time windows and vehicle types, including electric fleets, ensuring flexibility in diverse logistics scenarios.
